We offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to answer any questions you might have and to see if we are a good fit for your family.
What to Expect

It’s very common for children and families to feel nervous about starting therapy and connecting with a new therapist. To put your mind at ease, here are a few things you should know:

  • Sessions are confidential to allow you to share freely in a non-judgmental environment.

  • The initial intake is completed with the parent or caregiver without their child present to allow for all concerns to be shared openly. The end of the intake discusses treatment recommendations so that you can decide if the approach is the correct fit for your family.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes in length. The remaining 10 minutes include time for scheduling the following appointment and administrative duties.

  • Goals for therapy are set collaboratively between the therapist, the child and the parent. Progress in therapy should progress at a pace that you are comfortable with, towards goals that are meaningful and reasonable to you.

Therapy is not covered by OHIP, however you may have coverage with an extended health plan through insurance or benefits. Please check your plan to determine whether services by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) are covered fully or partially. For individuals with insurance and private benefits I will provide a receipt with my registration number that can you can submit for reimbursement. As well, since 2012 services provided by an RSW can be claimed as a medical expense and are a tax deduction.
